Woodstock Opener

Presented by the Killingworth Lions Club for the Benefit of Parmelee Farm
Concert at HK Middle School, 8:00 PM
Tickets: $25 & $35

Were you one of the nearly half million young folks who sang and danced in the rain at the famous, 1969 Woodstock music festival? And slept in muddy blankets? And ran out of food? And loved every minute of it?

Then you remember the singer who opened the show – Richie Havens – and how he played his guitar and sang for nearly three hours. The throng was spellbound and when he let loose with his song “Freedom", the crowd didn’t want to let him go.

Proceeds from this concert are to benefit the Parmelee Farm on Route 81. The 133-acre property is a wonderful Town-owned jewel in need of some restoration. Richie Havens has a passionate interest in preserving and nurturing the environment – particularly among young people. We thank him for his generous appearance.
