The Killingworth Community Gardens' mission is to provide residents with an opportunity to come together for the purpose of food production, environmental education and to encourage multi-generational gatherings. Individuals and groups at all levels of gardening expertise are welcome. Planning for the gardens started in early summer 2007. They opened in the spring of 2008 and expanded in 2009.

Gardeners are strongly encouraged to donate surplus produce to the local food pantries.
